Flookersbrook Veterinary Surgery, located in Chester, is a veterinary clinic that also serves as a training facility for veterinary nurses. With an overall rating of 4.2 stars based on 203 reviews, the clinic presents a mixed picture of client satisfaction.
On the positive side, several clients have praised the clinic for its professionalism and compassionate service. For instance, Katie Bennett, who has known one of the veterinarians, James, for over 25 years, commends his wealth of experience and compassion. Another reviewer, Megan, highlighted the professionalism and kindness of the staff during a difficult time, noting competitive pricing and the dignified treatment of their pet.
However, the clinic also faces significant criticism, as reflected in several one-star reviews. Brinsley Waters expressed deep dissatisfaction, feeling let down by the clinic's handling of a critical procedure for her dog, Rosie, which led to a lack of closure for her family. Similarly, Gareth Drain and Amanda Greenhalgh reported distressing experiences, citing unprofessional service and inadequate care, respectively, with Amanda highlighting a lack of continuity in treatment for her cat.
The polarized reviews suggest that while some clients have had positive interactions, others have experienced issues with communication and consistency in care. Given the volume of reviews, potential clients should weigh these varied experiences and possibly visit the clinic to discuss any concerns directly.

I lost my beautiful girl, Rosie, on 30th August 2025, and I feel utterly devastated and let down by this practice. Rosie was not “just a dog” — she was my baby, my children’s best friend, and part of our family. The failures here stole precious time from us, and I will never get that back. Rosie was diagnosed with suspected lung cancer on the 22nd of August, I couldn’t afford and didn’t want to put her through chemo. Despite clear instructions from her oncologist veterinarian, for a drainage procedure Rosie desperately needed to remove fluid from around her lungs was not carried out. That procedure could have kept her comfortable and given us the chance to say goodbye properly. Instead, she deteriorated quickly, and we lost her just three days later. Those three days were everything to us — time we could have held her, loved her, and prepared my children for her passing. That chance was taken away from us. Funny how if I payed for chemo, drainage would have had to be done regardless. But my wishes and what I wanted for us and Rosie was completely dismissed in an awful way. What makes this even worse is the way I was spoken to. I was made to feel like I was lying about Rosie’s condition. I was told she was “flat” during her first and one drainage procedure on the 20th, when in truth she was still happy, playful, and living life as normal right up until her final days. I wish I could post a video here from the morning of that appointment, she was playing and happy. Not “flat”. The way I was dismissed, spoken down to, and not believed has left me deeply hurt. And then — nothing. No follow-up, no check-in, no compassion. Not once did the practice call to ask about Rosie’s wellbeing after such a critical appointment. The silence has been deafening, and it has added to the pain of an already unbearable loss. This practice failed my Rosie when she needed them most. They failed me and my children, too. I would strongly advise anyone reading this to reconsider trusting them with your pet’s care. Your animals deserve compassion, dignity, and proper treatment — things Rosie was denied. Please don’t risk going through what we have.

Outstanding service, all staff very lovely and professional, especially when it came time to say goodbye to our beloved family pet. Explained the process, took payment quick and let us have the room for as long as we liked. Very dignified. Prices very competitive. Thank you to all the staff.

We took our dog to be put to sleep and felt that the service was unprofessional, couldn't seem to be able to inject into a vein, took about 30 mins. When it was over they couldn't wait to get the card machine, left very saddened by the whole experience.

If I could I would have given 0 star for this vets . All they are interested in is the money. My poor cat of 9 months old was very sick , they treated him with antibiotics, that didn't work, when I went back in I seen a different vet and he gave antisickness injection, the poor cat still couldn't eat and was sick all the time , after 2 weeks of this he died. The vets answer was it must have been something very serious for him to go this quickly. I feel they did not do enough and different vets didn't know what was going on with my poor cat . Broke my heart.
