Wharton Vets offers general pet healthcare with an on-site laboratory and a service mix that includes routine consultations/vaccinations plus dermatology, ophthalmology, dentistry, and neutering (spays/castrations). The clinic also states that emergency vet services are available, with a note that out-of-hours consultations are not included in some plans.
From the latest reviews available to us, experiences are mixed: some owners describe compassionate support around euthanasia and straightforward advice that avoided unnecessary tests, while others report sharp increases in fees, poor communication about practice closure/changes, and concerns about attitude or clinical judgement in specific cases (including a disputed kitten health check).
Based on the clinic website summary and the written reviews available to us, Wharton Vets provides
4.2 stars from 53 reviews. - End-of-life care: one owner describes kind support when their cat was put to sleep and appreciated the care given.

Just updating my review after today's awful experience £117 charged by a new vet there for 2 x2 minute consultations outside on the footpath and 3 repeat prescriptions for my 2 dogs Never ever have the practice charged me so much money before 4 minutes 3 A4 pieces of paper £117.00 vet charged Nearly twice as much as before the lockdown started Going to find another vet practice one that doesn't extort its loyal pet owners

Very kind and lovely Vet and staff. I had to have my cat put down. I really appreciate the care she was given and I would recommend these people to everyone with pets.

Cold and miserable reception staff, except for one, I think her name is Jenny. Appalling attitude from the vet I saw a few weeks ago. I questioned the blood tests he'd done on my 18 year old dog and the medication he'd given her. He was very rude and off hand accusing me of wanting to put her down. He was clearly not bothered about her suffering and her quality of life. If you care for your pet don't use them....I took my dog to the Willows in Middlewich. There's no comparison.

I got a kitten off a local rescue and they had taken the kittens to this vets for a vet check they told. The rescue the kittens were healthy and fine etc, well anyway I. Got one of the kittens and took her to my own vets for her vaccinations and checks and was told in fact they. We're only. 6 weeks old and shouldn't have left there mum my kitten was 0.75 grams and I got. Told by rescue she was 10 weeks just very small. She had cat flu and very bad eyes. Turns out I also spoke to a lady who has the brother to mine and he was the same only he had cat calmidia and yet the Nun house vets apparently vet checked them yes OK no vet in the right. Mind would. Say 6 week old kittens could leave mum.

Had two of my cats neutered and microchipped here with no problems, the cost is lower than anywhere else and the staff are friendly. One of my cats was so nervous he pooed himself on the way, but the staff said to leave it with them. I took my old cat here when she was having problems with her weight and they told me she had hypothyroid and heart failure with a high scale heart murmur, they said I could do treatment and more tests if i wanted but she would pass away any day and it was unpreventable, they assured me she wasnt in any pain and that the treatment would not help, they could have easily talked me into having all these tests and treatments unnecessarily just for the money but they didn't, these really care about the animals wellbeing over a sale. highly recommend.

Got a sick pet? Well I tell you now these guys will sort that pet right out. Dog with a bad foot? Sorted! Cat hurt it's tail? Sorted! Budgie got a bad wing? Sorted! House stink of dog? These guys sell them candles that eliminate pet odour and I'm not talking those candles you can get from a pound shop that look like they might work. These candles are great. Bit expensive but that's the price you pay for a nice smelling home. You probably can't smell animal in your house but trust me, its there!
